Athlete Bio
I have always been an adrenaline junkie from going down black diamond runs on my skis to white river rafting and roller coasters. I also have always enjoyed fitness and getting out in nature, but after two pregnancies and spending all of my time raising and nurturing my two young girls I realized I didn't have much adrenaline or energy, for that matter, flowing through my life. I needed some adrenaline, something that wouldn't kill me since I have two little ones depending on me. I began hitting the gym 5x or more per week and I was surprised how quickly I was able to get back in shape. In January 2009 I decided it was time for a new challenge. I decided to train for the Danskin triathlon. Training for three sports challenged me both physically and mentally, yet I had never felt better in my life, and best of all I met so many wonderful and inspiring people along the way.
Nothing can prepare you for the elation you feel after completing your first triathlon. Wow, I am a triathlete! I couldn't wait to sign up for the next. It never gets boring and there is always a new challenge to overcome or goal to aspire to. I have already had my setbacks including fear of the open water swim, bonking on a swim after being pummeled and panicking, being unprepared and having a flat tire during a race. The biggest challenge of all (besides finding the time to train in the the first place) is staying focused mentally, remaining positive, and not giving up. Triathlons have helped me to be a better and stronger person in so many aspects of my.
My goal is to keep training and competing in triathlons and improve my time. I have found that I am especially fond of cycling and love the feeling of watching the world go by from my bike. I plan to complete my first two longer rides, 65 and 90 mile rides this Fall. It is also my goal to get my personal training and Life Coaching Certification and use my passion for fitness to help people, especially busy hectic moms like myself to accomplish more than they ever thought possible.
Training has become my "me time" or my sanity. When I am not training you can find me in my North Austin home with my girls Madeline (6) and Olivia (2). I will most like be cooking, cleaning, organizing, grocery shopping or playing baby dolls. If I am lucky I may be traveling, reading, or taking a nap.
